RSPCA Cymru rescuers have actually effectively rescued a gull who had actually ended up being caught down a well around 50 feet deep at Conwy Castle.
The recently established gull showed up from the top of the well and was found on 30 July. As it was not able to fly, the RSPCA were exposured to rescuer Melanie Froude participating in that day.
Attempts were made to tempt the gull towards a container which was connected to a rope and had some stinky cat food within, however the gull sadly didn’t go within.
It was then the following day – on 31 July – that RSPCA inspectors Andy Broadbent – who led the rescue – and Jenny Anderton participated in the castle to see what they might do.

Jenny said: “We attempted a couple of things with our webs and poles however they sadly stopped working. Our 3rd strategy was lastly effective with the rescue taking in overall around 2 hours!
“We made a sort of huge spoon with a web with 2 ropes connected on either end. The gull was launched within a view of the castle and flew off immediately. It had actually been not able to remove when in the well due to the water.
“It was excellent to see the gull fly away gladly after what was a some-what challenging and verbose rescue! The gull flew off so rapidly I wasn’t even able to get a fast photo!
“Following the rescue we have issued some advice to the staff at the castle about covering the well in case any other gull managed to get stuck down there!”
The rescue comes as the RSPCA introduced its Cancel Out Cruelty fund-raising campaign last month to help the charity’s officers continue to rescue animals like this gull and is advising individuals to contribute to help it continue this crucial work.
