RIVERSIDE, Calif. (CNS) — Riverside firefighters on Saturday rescued a horse that fell into the Gage Canal off Jackson Street with its rider.
The fall occurred about midday and the horse suffered minor accidents making an attempt to get out of the canal, stated Battalion Chief Scott Wilson.
A plan was created to make use of a crane to hoist the horse to security.
“For this to happen, the animal have to be sedated so a veterinarian was requested to reply,” Wilson stated.
The veterinarian sedated the horse whereas the rescue staff placed rigging across the animal, the battalion chief stated. It was hoisted to security.
“Once the animal was again on the bottom, the horse was additional handled by the veterinarian and finally launched again to the proprietor,” Wilson stated. “The horse and its proprietor had been each happy to have the horse again on terra firma.”
