The Animal Rescue League of Berks County has enacted a Code Red for the City of Reading.
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County has prolonged the Code Red for Reading that it issued Tuesday.
“Due to a sustained heat index of over 95 degrees for the rest of the week, the Animal Rescue League of Berks County (ARL) issued a Code Red for the City of Reading for Thursday, Sept. 7, from noon to 6 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 8, from noon to 5 p.m.,” stated an announcement launched Wednesday by the ARL.
Owners and caretakers of dogs inside Reading should preserve them indoors aside from supervised lavatory breaks and train due to the temperatures which are forecast. The measure was added to the town code in 2015.
Noncompliance may end up in the animal being eliminated by an animal management officer from the property and impounded on the ARL in Cumru Township.
Owners would have 48 hours after the Code Red has been lifted to choose up their dogs, and might be topic to relevant boarding charges.
