Orange County Animal Services

Orange County, Fla. – Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) presently has almost 450 animals under its umbrella of care, 291 are physically at the shelter plus an extra 131 in foster care. Yesterday alone the shelter got 57 animals.

“Unfortunately, we’re experiencing higher intakes, and the rate at which animals are arriving is outpacing the rate at which they’re leaving,” said Diane Summers, supervisor of Orange County Animal Services. “We’re imploring our community to consider adopting or fostering and are asking them to try and keep animals at home rather than bringing them to the shelter during this time.”

The shelter shared the listed below information showing the consumption and result details:

Date Intakes (Dogs) Outcomes (Dogs)
Tuesday, April 11 26 45
Monday, April 10 31 18
Sunday, April 9 20 11

Orange County Animal Services is decreasing the adoption charges for its “ready to go” family pets to simply $10 start on Thursday, April 13 through end of day on Thursday, April 20. The shelter has around 120 animals designated as “ready to go.” These are family pets that have actually already been spayed/neutered, microchipped and have actually gotten their preliminary vaccines, indicating they are prepared to leave the shelter right away with their brand-new family.

“This is a community problem and one that everyone can play a role in helping to resolve, whether that be by taking in a pet permanently or even just short-term, volunteering for the shelter or a local rescue group or simply sharing the word about these challenges,” said Summers.

Those thinking about embracing are motivated to have a look at the available family pets on the shelter’s website here. More details on the adoption procedure can be found here. Additionally, the shelter is actively hiring brand-new members to its foster care program.
