The solar shone on Runcorn’s Phoenix Park the place the Weaver Vale MP’s first ever canine present was held on the weekend.
Stalls had been staffed by organisations together with the RSPCA and Dogs Trust, veterinary specialists Movement Referrals, Bindi’s Lost and Found Pets, Norton Priory, Windmill Hill Big Local and Phoenix Amateur Photography.
Musical accompaniment was courtesy of Halton ukulele band Uke-N-Strum.
Members of the general public entered their beloved pooches for classes that included waggiest tail, cutest previous timer, greatest trick and grumpiest face.
Judges had been Mr Amesbury and his workplace supervisor Cllr Rosie Leck (Mersey and Weston) together with Cllr Sharon Thornton (Halton Castle), who runs CHI group café within the park, with husband Phil.
Watching from the side-lines was Mr Amesbury’s pet cockapoo, who received the folks’s vote within the Westminster Dog of the Year contest 2018.
Mr Amesbury stated afterwards: “I assumed the day was an amazing success. Everyone appeared to be having enjoyable, so maybe I’ll have a look at holding extra occasions like this in future.
“A big thank you to everyone who came along, including owners and their dogs, stallholders, sponsors and volunteers.”
Prizes for the canine present had been kindly donated by Hessey’s Happy Hounds, working in Runcorn, Widnes and Great Sankey and which attended the present, in addition to Jollyes of Runcorn, Roscoe’s Ranch in Frodsham and Pet Funeral Services at Holywell.
