Movie House Cinemas around NI gather toys to bring delight to undesirable animals

Movie House Cinemas are intending to enhance the lives of numerous undesirable family pets residing in shelters by partnering with Northern Ireland charity PlayForStrays.

The movie theaters in Belfast (Cityside), Glengormley, Maghera and Coleraine are gathering toys and other products to help bring delight to these animals through this fantastic Antrim-based charity, which provides these products to those requiring it most. The collection begins on August 18, the day that the brand-new 15-rated funny Strays – starring Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx – hits movie theater screens.

PlayForStrays supplies a service to any no-kill animal shelter, internationally, by contributing toys and other products. It likewise works together with charitable groups that help the homeless neighborhood by offering coats, harnesses, toys and food to their precious animals.

Founder David Foster explained: “Many animal rescue charities cannot afford to purchase toys, deemed as luxury over food, electricity and veterinary care. However, it is scientifically recognised that toys bring positive enrichment, mental stimulation and joy to animals within these shelters.”

The movie theater collection points will function from August 18-24 at Cityside, Glengormley, Maghera and Coleraine.

“We worked with Movie House in 2018 and were bowled over by the response of their customers. When we heard about the new movie Strays, we reached out to the cinema to see if we could do it again,” David said.

“The demand for help for animal charities is even greater now and we are working flat out to improve life for pets around the world. We will take toys or food for any animal, not just dogs and cats,” he included.

Movie House has a strong charity values and this year has actually already supported Breast Cancer Now and their staff groups are likewise fundraising for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance.

“We are delighted to support PlayForStrays. Shelters work so hard to help the animals in their care and we know the financial pressures they are under. We hope that the items collected in our cinemas bring some joy to these pets,” Movie House Managing Director Michael McAdam said.
