A York driver has warned others of a ‘monster pothole’ which has opened on a busy metropolis street.

They present a big pothole on Water End bridge, near the RSPCA headquarters.
She was driving home to Dringhouses final evening with boyfriend Steve Austin (Sunday) when their Seat Ibiza gave a bump they usually heard a “big bang”.
They had hit the monster gap. It burst the tyre and broken the wheel “beyond repair”, which Steve needed to change on the roadside.
She stated: “It bent the steering arm, fully ruined my wheel and popped my tyre.
“So a model new wheel is required and a brand new tyre – however mine’s a restricted version so it gained’t be low-cost!
“And need my car for work in a community carer so this has been a nightmare!”
They have measured the opening – it’s about 22cm deep (9 inches) and 73cm lengthy (29 inches).
She contacted police and City of York Council in regards to the gap final evening. In the meantime she stated “everyone be warned!”
