Local animal center named after late Mexican rescue dog

An animal rehab center in Kocaeli was called after Mexican search and rescue dog Proteo, who passed away throughout the search and rescue operations in Adıyaman after the quakes ruined the area.

Proteo, who was reported to have actually passed away due to aging, played a necessary function in the rescue of many individuals throughout the very first week after the quakes in Kahramanmaraş.

The center for roaming animals was developed by Başiskele town on a location of 6,100 square meters in the Sepetlipınar community.

Meanwhile, Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç revealed that they will build a statue of Proteo also.

“We are witnessing an environment of solidarity just like in 2011,” Genç said.

He included that after the Van earthquake, they have actually requested for consent from Atsushi Miyazaki’s family and the Japanese federal government to call a park after him.

Atsushi Miyazaki was a Japanese volunteer who passed away in the aftershocks of the 2011 Van earthquake.

Genç specified that in this park, they will build a statue of Proteo, to commemorate the memory of everybody who concerned help from around the world and lost their lives for the cause.
