James A. McGreevy, 74, died on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 at his home in Oak Park. Born on Aug. 8, 1949 in Oak Park to the late Alan McGreevy and Marilyn Mcguinn McGreevy Tyznik, he graduated from St. Giles School, and went on to attend Quigley North in Chicago with an extra yr at Oak Park and River Forest High School. He spent a number of years within the U.S. Coast Guard at Yorktown, Virginia; Cape May, New Jersey; and Port Huron, Michigan. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a level in Journalism and relocated to Oak Park, working as a profitable broadcast and tv producer at JTC, then for a widely known TV program for 14 years.
He and Bette loved many yearly European and U.S. journeys over the years, significantly loving Britain and Maui.
A really gifted musical artist, he loved motion pictures and music, singing and enjoying self-taught guitar for weddings, gatherings, and so on. He additionally loved going to the lake with Bette and volunteered on the Red Door Animal Shelter and the Chicago Houserabbit Society.
Jim is survived by his life accomplice of 52 years, Bette Wojta; his sister, Judith, and brother-in-law Bob Steed; his nieces, Bridget and Kathryn Steed; and quite a few buddies.
A memorial visitation can be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park, the place a memorial service can be held at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions could also be made to St. Jude Hospital or any pet charity of the donor’s selection.
