Karin Snape, from Great Sankey, will be treking from John O’Groats in north Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall in April gathering money for Guide Dogs – the world’s biggest breeder and fitness instructor of working dogs.

The 65-year-old, who will commemorate her 66th birthday and end up being a pensioner while she’s on the journey, will trigger from John O’Groats on Saturday, April 15 and make her method to the south coast for completion of June or start of July.

Karin, who was a finalist in the Warrington Guardian Inspiration Awards previously this month, has actually invested the previous couple of years fundraising for Guide Dogs having actually assisted raise 26 puppies and she wishes to raise enough money to be able to sponsor another 26.

Karin said: “I am totally committed to reaching my goal of 1,000 miles between mid April and early July.

My grandson is visually impaired and I have some close friends who have guide dogs so I wanted to give something back.

“I’m determined to complete this challenge to support future guide dog partnerships.

“Having raised 26 guide dog puppies, I’d love to be able to support the next 26 as well.”

Karin was granted a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year’s honours list at the start of 2019 for services to hunting.

When she took control of an explorer group in Appleton it had 6 members and under her management it grew to 68 youths.

She is likewise a volunteer swimming instructor at Penketh Swimming Club.

“I walked home from Bents Garden and Home last week dressed as a dog and carrying the huge blue flag.

“It was around nine miles and I collected £120.”
