‘No two days are the same as a firefighter’ – truer words were never ever spoken by Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue as teams from Horncastle and Louth have actually been saving a family pet from a tree, however not the breed you’d anticipate…
Yesterday night (Wednesday) at around 6pm, the teams participated in Queen Street, Horncastle to reports of an iguana up a tree.
The teams utilized a 9metre ladder, 2 triple brief extension ladders, chimney rods, salvage sheets, rope rescue equipment and a regional tree cosmetic surgeon to effectively rescue the iguana, called Einstein, from the tree.
A representative for the fire service said: “A busy day for Horncastle crew today, and then we finished off with a small animal rescue – but to our surprise, not what we were expecting we got to meet the lovely Einstein the iguana who got himself stuck up a very large tree.
“Thanks to Louth Fire Station and our amazing local tree surgeon for some assistance we managed to safely get him back down.
“No two days are the same as a firefighter! Happy to help our RSPCA colleagues to ensure a safe rescue.”
