A person has made a big donation to an animal charity – with a twist.
Greenham resident Steve Morgan holds an annual competition spectacle each Christmas to boost funds for charity.
Last yr, he managed to boost £1,126, which he offered to the Dogs Trust – in pet food – at its Hamstead Marshall web site on Friday (January 12).
Speaking concerning the volunteers’ response when he arrived with a van load of pet food, he mentioned: “You had to see the look on their faces; it was amazing.
“We had a walk around and saw what they get up to behind the scenes. It’s quite phenomenal really.
“I take my hat off to them. My little bit of input was nothing compared to what the volunteers do.
“They do everything for those animals to make sure they go to good homes.
“They were over the moon to see how much it was.
“If people didn’t do this sort of thing, they wouldn’t get anything.”
Determined to have the utmost influence attainable, Mr Morgan, a eager animal lover, selected to donate the quantity in moist and dry pet food to assist the pooches most in want.
And he reckons he might have donated twice the quantity a few years in the past when meals costs had been cheaper.
Reacting to his donation, centre supervisor, Natasha Tarrant, mentioned: “We’re very grateful for Steve and Tania’s generous donation of dog food.
“Their support helps us continue our vital work of looking after the dogs at our Newbury rehoming centre, while they await their perfect match.”
Mr Morgan has embellished homes on his avenue and bought wood reindeer, snowmen and robins for seven years now to assist completely different charitable causes.
He mentioned he subsequent plans to assist youngsters’s charity, Dingley’s Promise, and hopes to donate any leftover funds to the Dogs Trust.
