The celebration happens at Staveley Town Basin this Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, from 10am to 5pm.
Birds of victim, Newfoundland dogs, water walking balls, spinning bumper automobiles, kids’s flights and face painting will be amongst the sights and activities.
An enjoyable dog reveal will be hung on Saturday at 1pm, with rewards for most beautiful bitch, good-looking dog, finest technique, waggiest tail, kid handler, costume and more. Entries accepted from 11am; £2 for very first entry and £1 for extra entries.
Free home entertainment will consist of music, dance and street theatre throughout the day, both in the huge marquee and outdoors by the lock.
Craft, charity and food stalls and a genuine ale bar will contribute to the enjoyable of the celebration.
All 4 of the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s tripboats will be in action and 2 will have wheelchair lifts.
The trust’s advancement supervisor will be holding concern and response sessions in the marquee about prepare for the remediation of the canal.
Admission will be £6, complimentary for under 16s. There will be complimentary parking close by with parking for blue badge holders onsite. There are a number of bus paths that pass withing 200 metres. The entire website is available to wheelchairs.
There will be different shows on the Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 7.30 p.m.
Friday will see the return of the ever-popular Swing Commanders, whilst Saturday will include Chesterfield’s own WonderWhys. Tickets for both shows are available from the Chesterfield Canal Trust website. There will be onsite parking, food stalls and a genuine ale bar.
On Monday, June 26, there will be a flotilla of all 4 tripboats from Staveley Basin right up the canal to Tapton and back, with stops at Hollingwood Hub and Tapton Lock, covering 10 miles and 11 locks. Go to Chesterfield Canal Trust website, to book.
On Tuesday, June 27, there will be a What, Where and When Restoration Walk to demonstrate how the canal’s path takes a look at present prior to the significant remediation works start next year.
