Fortunately a team from Leominster Fire Station was on hand to pull the family pet out of the water in a significant rescue.
The drama occurred in Leominster, about 10 miles south of Ludlow, on Friday and a representative for the town’s station house said they had the ability to save the family pet.
A spokesperson on Saturday said: “Yesterday afternoon we were contacted us to help with the rescue of a dog from a river bank in the area.
“Whilst out walking the river walkways with its owner, the dog regrettably got swept away. Our WFR group had the ability to get access to the dog and ultimately reunite with its owner.”
They included: “Always have your dog on a lead near quick running water, and constantly take additional care when walking near rivers in flood.”
