A video has surfaced of firefighters rescuing a dog that got stuck in a frozen lake.

Two fire engines were called to East Burwains Avenue in Foulridge on Tuesday (December 13) after a dog got stuck on a partially frozen reservoir.

Colne and Nelson fire services rescued the dog from Lake Burwain after it chased a bird onto the ice and got stuck.

The fire service has now released an image and video of the rescue.

Fire crews used a sled and line rescue equipment to rescue the dog and were in attendance for an hour.

If your pet ever gets stuck in an icy open body of water the fire service said you should never enter the water.
