The trial revealed that dogs using D.A.P.® collars while in kennels were less most likely to show canine tension signs, such as barking and pacing around kennels, and were most likely to rest and rest; indications that dogs are more unwinded.
Chris Laurence, veterinary director at Dogs Trust, said: “Dogs Trust trialled D.A.P.® collars on dogs being confessed at our Harefield Rehoming Centre. Many dogs are really worried by their very first experience in a kennel environment and it was revealed that using a collar substantially decreased their tension levels.
“Centre staff were impressed with the positive modifications in behaviour that were revealed throughout the trial. Dogs were much more unwinded and less reactive to the inescapable difficult components of their environment. We will now be utilizing D.A.P.® collars on all dogs entering our Rehoming Centres in tandem with the other practices we already use to minimize kennel tension.
“Stressed dogs are harder to rehome so we hope using DAP® to minimize tension levels will be useful to both their well-being and our rehoming.”
