ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Rescue crews helped a canine that received caught in a Crozet-area pond on Tuesday morning.

The Western Albemarle Rescue Squad responded round 9:10 a.m. to a pond on Cathaross Lane.

The canine reportedly stepped onto skinny ice and fell into the water.

The canine was safely rescued and its proprietor took it to a vet for therapy.

Rescue officers urge folks to not walk on any iced-over lake or pond surfaces. 

While recent very chilly climate has brought about many waterways to ice over, the thickness of the ice may be troublesome to guage.

And extra recent hotter climate means among the ice has been melting.

The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue was additionally available to help with this incident.
