“The assault by beating occurred when you wrestled her from the table and pushed her to the floor. There was no excuse for that sort of behaviour.
“At about 8pm you left to walk home. There was a struggle in the street. You both fell to the ground. You punched her before dragging her to her feet.
“You were seen on another CCTV camera closer to home. You dragged her to the ground, she tried to run away and you went after her and dragged her back into the street.
“At that stage the incident, as bad as it was, could have ended but you pushed her to the ground then kicked her twice on the ground.”

Recorder Latimer stated the sufferer described herself afterwards as “absolutely devastated”.
