BETHEL — Four pups adopted from the Danbury Animal Welfare Society will signify the Bethel-based nonprofit pet rescue on this yr’s Puppy Bowl on Feb. 11.

Representing DAWS on this yr’s Puppy Bowl are Apollo, Courage, Lainie and Hope — all of whom have discovered their “forever homes,” in response to Meenan. Apollo and Lainie will compete on Team Ruff, whereas Courage and Hope will sq. off on Team Fluff.

Puppy Bowl XX will characteristic 131 puppies and 73 shelters and rescues from throughout 36 states. The competitors will kick off at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 and might be simulcast throughout Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, Max and discovery+.
Along with elevating consciousness about pet adoption, Meenan mentioned taking part within the Puppy Bowl brings consideration to DAWS and its work to rescue and rehome animals.
“When we’re at the games, we get to mingle and meet other rescues that are doing the same lifesaving work that DAWS is doing,” she mentioned. “It allows us to spend two days with like-minded individuals. … It allows us to enjoy these two days of being part of this large community and [on] the day of, it’s exciting for us to see DAWS when the event is streamed on Animal Planet and see DAWS get credit.”
DAWS might be celebrating its fiftieth anniversary of serving to animals in the local people and past this fall, Meenan mentioned.

“We’ve really grown over the years from helping rehome local strays all the way to a rescue operation that takes place once a week,” she mentioned, including that the nonprofit celebrated 800 adoptions this previous yr.
