Ukrainian forces trying ‘extremely tough’ frontal attack on Russian positions
The US-based policy organisation Institute For The Study Of War says Ukrainian forces are “trying an extremely tough tactical operation”.
This is a frontal attack on ready defensive (Russian) positions which is even more made complex by Ukraine’s absence of air supremacy, the ISW says.
It worries that these preliminary attacks need to not be utilized as an indication of how Ukraine’s other counter-offensive attacks will be carried out.
“Ukrainian forces are unsurprisingly taking casualties in preliminary attacks versus a few of the best-prepared Russian forces in Ukraine.
“However, preliminary attacks – and especially chosen video that Russian sources are purposefully sharing and highlighting – are not agent of all Ukrainian operations.”
The ISW includes: “The Russian military remains hazardous and Ukrainian forces definitely deal with a tough battle, however Ukraine has actually not yet dedicated the large bulk of its counter-offensive forces and Russian defences are not evenly strong along all sectors of the cutting edge.”
