MEDICATION HAT, AB – The McCoy Varsity Colts clinched the Alberta Premier Baseball league title on Friday, concluding their season with a record of 9 wins and 2 losses. The Colts took on versus the MHHS Hawks.
The video game began on Wednesday night prior to being drizzled out. It resumed Friday with the Colts leading 6-1 in the top of the sixth inning. McCoy handled to include another run, however the Hawks resisted in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring 4 runs and narrowing the space to 7-5. The Colts reacted with 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning, restoring their 6-run lead.
The video game concluded with a remarkable play by shortstop Caleb Garrecht, who captured a line drive and finished an unassisted double play, protecting an 11-5 success for the Colts.
The Hawks showed a well balanced offending effort, with their 8 hits being spread out throughout the lineup. Jeff Bullock was the only Hawk with numerous hits, going 2 for 4 with a run scored.
