The Bureau of Meteorology has simply offered a climate update on ABC Radio and says hotter temperatures are nonetheless anticipated as a band of cloud strikes throughout the state.
“It’s likely to start breaking up over the next few hours through the Western district, so we will start to see some of those hotter temperatures we’ve been forecasting starting to come through,” Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Miriam Bradbury advised ABC Victorian Afternoons.
“To put that into perspective, the maximum temperature we’ve reached in Ballarat today is 28C, that’s because that cloud has been lingering over those areas quite a bit through this morning and early afternoon.
“But you shift westwards where that cloud is starting to thin, Hamilton has already reached 36.5C.
“The message for the rest of the day is, as the front approaches through this afternoon we’re likely to see those temperatures staying high, possibly even getting higher than they are at the moment.”
Ms Bradbury stated temperatures will attain the mid 30s in most components of the Victoria, and probably low 40s within the north, with robust northerly winds choosing up this afternoon and early night.
