A busy A-road is shut on the Cambridgeshire border as a result of a spillage from a car at this time (Tuesday, March 19). The A428 eastbound is closed to site visitors because of the incident between the A1 and Barford Road close to the Great North Roundabout.

The closure was first reported shortly after 10.30am – with hydrochloric acid spilling from a lorry and the highway closed in each instructions. Traffic is being diverted by way of native routes, with the westbound carriageway reopening at round 12.30pm.




A National Highways spokesperson stated: “The A428 in Bedfordshire is closed eastbound between the A1 (close to Wyboston) and B1043 (Barford Road Roundabout) as a result of a spillage of Hydrochloric Acid from a Heavy Goods car. Cambridgeshire Fire Service are in attendance and Bedfordshire Police. National Highways service suppliers are on scene to help with site visitors administration and specialist clear up works.”
