The Saamis Tepee will be lit green today as the City of Medicine Hat marks National Injury Prevention Day.
The day is targeted at assisting Canadians learn how to avoid injuries through education and advocacy. The Medicine Hat landmark is among a number that will be lit in the unique “Parachute Green” utilized by Parachute, a nationwide charity devoted to injury avoidance.
Alberta Health Services says the City of Medicine Hat and the City of Brooks are announcing July 5 as National Injury Prevention Day. Lethbridge City Hall and Brooks City Hall are some other landmarks that will be “Parachute Green” today.
According to AHS, approximately 3 of every 4 injury-related deaths in Canada are from unintended causes such as falls, automobile mishaps and poisonings. In 2019, Alberta taped 34,881 injury-related health center admissions and 515,962 emergency situation department sees.
