The county upgraded its law previously this year to enable leisure fire pits throughout a restriction as long as specific conditions are fulfilled within the specified hamlets of Cypress County.
The fire should be included to a non-combustible container set for the function of cooking, heat or seeing for satisfaction; enough water and fire suppression equipment should be on hand and the fire should be monitored at all times by an accountable person.
As well, the county says fire pits:
- will be no bigger than 36”
- the base of any in-ground fire pit should include sand, gravel, or concrete
- should be placed a minimum of 3 metres (10 feet) from any property line, house, garage, fence, deck, shed or any other completely set up or hard-to-move structures (i.e. benches, play structure etc.)
- should be placed a minimum of 3 metres (10 feet) from any trees, branches, shrubs, plants, or other products that might ignite
