Officials recommends people conceptualize other concepts where water preservation may make good sense.
The City of Lethbridge on the other hand, is allocating water use in the following methods:
- Suspending cleaning of City lorries unless it is needed for safety factors
- Reducing watering in function parks, sports fields, and schools by 25 percent
- Reducing watering in other parks and boulevards by 50 percent
- Temporarily closing Gyro Spray Park at Nicholas Sheran, and Rotary Fountain in Galt Gardens at the end of the day Thursday, August 17, 2023. Legacy Park’s Spray Park will stay open for the time being.
- Dry sweeping where possible
The City of Lethbridge supplies water to Coaldale, Coalhurst, Picture Butte, Monarch, Diamond City, Shaughnessy, Iron Springs, Turin and other local partners. All neighborhoods are being asked to help save water. Water preservation efforts will stay in location till more notification.
Officials included that the provincial federal government continues to keep track of the scenario throughout Alberta, observing rainfall levels, tanks and lake levels, stream circulation rates in rivers and water need. More information are available at the Government of Alberta website.
