BASEL, Switzerland — Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime secured his spot within the semifinals on the Swiss Indoors tennis match Friday with a 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (1) victory over Alexander Shevchenko.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked nineteenth on the earth, wanted two hours and 36 minutes to down the Russian qualifier.
The Canadian fired 16 aces within the match.
Auger-Aliassime, the defending champion in Basel, will face Holger Rune, the match’s high seed and sixth-ranked participant on the earth, in Saturday’s semifinal.
