LETHBRIDGE, AB – The provincial federal government is increasing the Alberta Student Grant in order to make post-secondary education more inexpensive for over 20,000 trainees.
Recipients of the grant for the 2023-24 scholastic year will receive as much as $5,100 in non-repayable financing assistance. Monthly assistance payments will increase from $250 to $425 each month.
Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advanced Education said, “No student should be deterred from reaching their career goals. Alberta’s government will continue to find ways to keep life affordable for Albertans and to set them up for success, both during and after their studies.”
Applications for the grant for the 2023-24 academic year opened Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Students getting Alberta trainee loans will be immediately evaluated for the grant, getting rid of the different application procedure.
