Sister Tamara W. Runia was sustained April 1, 2023, as first counselor within the Young Women normal presidency and started her service on Aug. 1, 2023. She was born on March 2, 1961, in Concord, California, and grew up in Walnut Creek, California.

While learning broadcast journalism at Brigham Young University, she met Brother R. Scott Runia, a BYU basketball participant. They have been married on May 23, 1981, within the Oakland California Temple and have seven youngsters. She spent many years in civic service whereas they lived in Provo, Utah.

Before her name to the Young Women normal presidency, she was a Australia Sydney Mission chief together with her husband, a stake Young Women president, stake Relief Society presidency counselor, stake scripture class teacher, Primary music chief and missionary preparation class instructor.
