OTTAWA — Canada’s cyberspy firm says it performed operations in the in 2015 to interfere with and eliminate hazardous terrorist material spread online by foreign, ideologically determined extremists.
In its latest yearly report, the Communications Security Establishment says the operation fractured the extremists’ cohesion and considerably lowered their online reach and capability to hire brand-new members.
The report offers no specifics about the extremists or their objectives.
The Ottawa-based CSE keeps track of foreign interactions for intelligence of interest to Canada, safeguards computer system systems and takes part in cyberoperations to counter risks from abroad.
