The leopard jumped into the living room as it was chasing a cat and the family prepared for dinner.
The big cat remained in the house for few seconds but fortunately no one was injured in the incident. Witnessing the leopard in the house, the family of Vilas Raykar screamed in fear.
Following the incident, Vilas, who is a farmer, has urged the forest department to put a cage to trap the wild animal.
“I was having a dinner when the big cat entered our living room. Other family members were watching TV when we sighted the leopard who was chasing a cat that ran into the kitchen. What we could do was just to scream,” a report in Times of India quoted Raykar as saying.
Raykar said that when his family members screamed, the animal left the house. It took us several minutes to stabalise after the incident. Following this, the family did not came out of the house entire night.
The house of Raykar does not have a compound wall and his residence is surrounded by sugarcane fields and grape plantations. Raykar has put up bulbs to illuminate the house.
The family said they do not have the money to build a compound wall. Raykar said there are other families in the area who also don’t have a compund wall despite threats of wild animals.
