WAFI-GOLPU Joint Venture is urging its communities to observe security following recent snake chew incidents within the venture footprint areas.
A 44-year-old man was rushed to ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital on April 23 by WGJV medical workers after being bitten by a snake whereas attending to his backyard. The man is from Venembeli village of the Yanta tribe.
He is now recovering on the hospital due to the fast efforts of the corporate workers.
WGJV has attended to 5 snake chew circumstances during the last 12 months and is working to boost consciousness about precautions residents can take to keep away from snake bites.
“We are deeply concerned about the recent cases of snake bites and by working together and promoting safety in the communities, we can mitigate the risk of such incidents occurring in the future,” mentioned WGJV Health Extension Officer, Philip Dulau.
Mr Dulau inspired locals to prioritise security practices when venturing outside by sustaining situational consciousness, avoiding tall grassy areas and different potential hiding spots for snakes.
