The female rider Seema Dhulse had actually gone to PM Aawas Yojana Colony for some work and kept her scooter in the parking area. After completing her work, when Dhulse reached near her scooter, she was shocked to see a snake moving inside the speedometer box from the space near the handlebar of her two-wheeler.
“Dhulse called some sarpamitras. Lucky Khadode, Satish Jangde and Dheeraj Meshram, all volunteers of Wildlife Welfare Society (WWS), attended the call immediately. The reptile had coiled up inside the speedometer and the volunteers had to open the two-wheeler’s farings one by one to rescue the snake,” said Nitish Bhandakkar, WWS president.
“The snake was a non-venomous trinket and later safely released in its natural habitat. Later the woman had to call a mechanic to fix the scooter parts,” said Bhandakkar.
“With rain disturbing their habitat, sighting snakes on the land has become a regular phenomenon nowadays. All those using vehicles should be extra careful,” he said. tnn
