A Queensland man who died after being bitten by a snake was “doing his very best to keep the children safe” from the venomous reptile at a childcare centre.
Father-of-three Jerromy Brookes, 47, was bitten a number of instances on his left arm whereas trying to take away it from the Townsville centre on Tuesday afternoon.

“The call was made by the patient’s wife, who then commenced CPR as the patient went into cardiac arrest,” Queensland Ambulance Service performing district director Paula Marten mentioned.
“The information provided to us was that the gentleman had been bitten in a different location and attended back to his residence, where his wife had immobilised his arm and wrapped it, when the onset of the symptoms occurred.”
Brookes was taken to Townsville Hospital in a crucial situation however died quickly after.
