Queensland dad Jerromy Brookes dies after a number of snake bites in Deeragun, Townsville

A Queensland man who died after being bitten by a snake was “doing his very best to keep the children safe” from the venomous reptile at a childcare centre.

Father-of-three Jerromy Brookes, 47, was bitten a number of instances on his left arm whereas trying to take away it from the Townsville centre on Tuesday afternoon.

He went to his home in Deeragun, within the metropolis’s outer west, and went into cardiac arrest, when his spouse gave him first assist and known as emergency companies.

“The call was made by the patient’s wife, who then commenced CPR as the patient went into cardiac arrest,” Queensland Ambulance Service performing district director Paula Marten mentioned.

“The information provided to us was that the gentleman had been bitten in a different location and attended back to his residence, where his wife had immobilised his arm and wrapped it, when the onset of the symptoms occurred.”

Brookes was taken to Townsville Hospital in a crucial situation however died quickly after.

7NEWS understands he was not knowledgeable snake handler.

His spouse is a childcare employee, but it surely’s believed he was bitten at a unique centre to the one the place she works.

“Jerromy was helping remove a snake from another childcare centre in Townsville when the incident occurred,” a household pal wrote in a tribute.

“He was doing his very best to keep the children safe.”

7NEWS.com.au understands the snake that bit him was a snakelet (a young snake), with some species of snakes in a position to administer venom quickly after hatching.
