BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho — A dog was rescued from a precarious scenario on the South Fork of the Snake River on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders responded to a get in touch with Sunday, July 30, around 4:35pm reporting that a reversed drift boat was pinned versus a cement pylon near the Snake River Bridge at Spring Creek. The caller said a dog seemed stuck on the boat, and 2 individuals were drifting downstream of the scene without personal floatation gadgets.
The people were recovered by a neighboring boating celebration and transferred securely on the riverbank.
Emergency responders situated the dog, Finn, who was using a life vest with a leash, which was captured in between the boat and the pylon. Deputies got to Finn in a motorboat and brought him back to safety.
“The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office reminds those who recreate on the water to always plan for emergencies and wear a lifejacket,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a declaration. “Warm temperatures and nice weather doesn’t mean currents and obstacles in the river are easier to navigate. Surface and undercurrents in the Snake River can quickly overcome a boat’s ability to avoid obstacles.”
