We’re heading into a huge weekend for dog enthusiasts in the Calgary location.
Excitement is building at a significant canine competitors, with some loveable little novices entering the ring.
The Alberta Kennel Club (AKC) is hosting its yearly Summer Classic dog program at the Spruce Meadows complex on the southwestern borders of Calgary.
The AKC says it’s the most significant outside dog program in Canada, with almost 3,000 dogs from throughout Canada and the U.S. anticipated to contend.
Calgary dog owner Christine Hansen is bringing her 2 Pomeranian puppies to the Summer Classic for the very first time.
Nine-month-old Olivia will be completing, while her four-month-old cousin Rumble will be getting a feel for what dog programs resemble.
“This is a really big deal,” Hansen said.
Calgary dog owner Helen Chang is likewise going to the occasion.
While her 15-week-old Golden Retriever Sunna is a bit too young to contend, Chang feels being around the veteran rivals will be an important experience.
“It’s really great because you get people to coach you,” Chang said.
The Summer Classic includes numerous dog sports, consisting of obedience trials and dexterity competitors.
The occasion ranges from Friday, Aug. 4 to Monday, Aug. 7 at Spruce Meadows.
Hansen thinks her Pomeranian puppies have what it requires to succeed at dog programs.
“They are spicy little dogs – they are bold, they’re fearless,” Hansen said. “They love people and they love other dogs.”
