Three-year-old Emma Young is a chatty young child with a mind of her own. She wasn’t constantly that method.
“She didn’t start talking up until she was 2,” Emma’s mama, Ashli Young said. “She might be the social butterfly that she is, however she still has concerns interacting.”
Emma was born with a genetic condition, Bannayan-Riley-Ruvalcaba syndrome (BRRS), that can trigger developmental hold-ups. On top of that, she was identified with autism when she was 2-years old.
“My in-laws initially discovered that she would flap her hands and cover her ears and she’ll get disturbed over loud sounds,” Young said. “She has her minutes where she gets overloaded over-stimulated and she simply requires a breather.”
The Youngs are wishing to get Emma an ADA-certified service dog. They’ve been authorized by the non-profit 4 Paws for Ability. The family needs to raise $20,000 of the approximated $60,000 cost to get a service dog trained particularly to help Emma.
“Since she has autism, the dog would be trained to do particularly things that help her,” Young said.
Young is hoping a service dog will help Emma be all she can be in life.
“If she wishes to end up being an instructor, I desire her to teach. If she wishes to end up being a vocalist, I desire her to sing to the world,” Young said. “If she wishes to be a physician, I desire her to treat cancer!”
The Youngs have a Facebook page, Paws 4 Emma, to raise money and track their development in getting a service dog. So far, they have actually raised about $2,000 of the $20,000 required.
