Ex-Corrie starlet Helen Flanagan, 32, is among the well-known fans of the trend, where young pooches run about a room while individuals attempt to carry out stretches with names like down dog position and cat position.

But a recent ITV probe discovered the dark side of the pattern, with pups at some companies being rejected access to water or sleep and worked for hours at a time.

And RSPCA dog behaviour expert Esme Wheeler said: “If a young puppy is positioned into circumstances where they feel overloaded and scared, they might start to see the important things they are being presented to as frightening

“This can lead to a negative reaction in future and the potential development of behavioural problems.”

She included: “We know that many people going to puppy yoga classes want to be kind to animals. But they won’t realise the implications that these can have for dogs and their welfare.”

We informed on Tuesday how puppy yoga is being offered by Edinburgh Napier Uni’s students’ association at their ‘Welcome Week’ — prepared as a much healthier option to boozy Freshers’ Weeks.

They have actually marketed it as “30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of puppy playtime”.

The session will be placed on by Edinburgh Puppy Yoga.

An association spokesperson said: “We have researched the company and trust that they are ethical and put the puppies’ health first.”

In June, leading design Roxy Horner, 32, hosted a puppy yoga occasion to promote psychological wellness for Diabetes Awareness Week.

Megan Barton Hanson, 29, a previous Love Island participant, postured on https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/topic/tiktok/TikTok throughout a class.

And last month Channel 4 came under fire for revealing clips on Bake Off: The Professionals of stars Nicoletta and Georgina participating in a session with young dogs.

Edinburgh Puppy Yoga has actually published on social media to distance themselves from the business included in the ITV examination, stating they were “horrified”.

They composed: “The puppy’s happiness and welfare is always our first priority.”
