MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- The County of Monterey Public Works, Facilities and Park Department might be having a grand opening on Thursday afternoon for the primary canine park at Toro Park.
County officers mentioned the canine park might be named Quail Meadows Dog Park. The park was designed and constructed by one of many scouts from the Boy Scouts of America Troop 60 Spreckels.
Nathan Poggemeyer who’s a Boy Scout contacted the Parks Division and advised them that there was a scarcity of leash-free canine parks within the space.
Poggemyer was in a position to elevate funds for the canine park and gathered supplies together with his troop and volunteers to build the canine park over the previous couple of weeks.
“County of Monterey Parks has an extended historical past of partnering with Eagle Scouts to offer park initiatives and we sit up for many extra years of working collectively to enhance our fantastic recreation areas,” Chief of Parks Bryan Flores mentioned. “Many because of Nathan and is fellow Scouts for this excellent addition to Toro Park.”
County officers mentioned Poggemeyer and his fellow Boy Scouts are presently engaged on a challenge to build a playground for dogs on the new park.
The occasion will begin at midday.
