A man who apparently attempted to eliminate his moms and dads at their Vista home Wednesday, then got into a close-by residence, assaulted a lap dog and entered into a battle with a next-door neighbor was apprehended on a slate of criminal charges.
Barry James Knowlton, 49, apparently started abusing his moms and dads at their residence in the 1300 block of Via Christina, near Jim Porter Parkway, quickly prior to 6 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Knowlton apparently choked his mom consistently and punched his dad in the face, then got on top of the older man and choked him while covering the victim’s mouth to avoid him from breathing, Sgt. Marcello Orsini said.
The suspect then apparently left your home, required entry to a nearby home, assaulted the dog and battled with a local there.
Deputies reacting to an emergency situation call reporting the supposed rampage took Knowlton into custody without event.
“The elderly victims were treated at the scene for injuries to their neck and face,” Orsini said. “The neighbor was treated for a hand injury. The dog is also recovering from its injuries.”
Knowlton was booked into county prison in Vista on suspicion of 2 counts each of tried murder and senior abuse, together with charges of break-in and cruelty to an animal. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
