On Sunday July 16, 2023, at around 10:17 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was informed of a backpacker who was nauseated, throwing up and dehydrated in the location of Jasper Lake, west of Eldora with gain access to from the Hessie Trailhead.

The 18-year-old female was on an over night backpacking journey with her mommy and their dog when she started to experience stomach discomfort, queasiness and throwing up.
