Animal well-being officers have actually released a probe after an emaciated dog was discovered on Dumbarton Road in Whiteinch.
The dog was rescued on July 31 after a member of the general public challenged the man holding her about her poor condition.
He declared the dog, a female Staffordshire bull terrier, came from his friend.
The dog is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA who are interesting anybody with info to come forward.
SSPCA inspector, Gillian Dick, said, “The dog is a tan, adult female Staffordshire bull terrier type dog. She remains in exceptionally poor condition and emaciated.
“She was handed to a member of the general public by a man after they challenged him about the state of the dog.
“He declared the dog came from his friend.
“We are eager to speak with the individual who was caring for the dog and the individual who owns her. Unfortunately, she is not microchipped so we are not able to trace any owner information.
“If anyone recognises this dog, or has any information about her circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
