Police pursue man with puppy into Walmart; man pleads innocent to drug charges

CASPER, Wyo. — Casper cops state a man they were examining in a Walmart car park previously this summertime got away into the store at a complete run bring a puppy. They likewise discovered over 80 presumed fentanyl tablets in the store restroom where he gave up, the report said.

Byron Delbert Drake III pleaded innocent to felony weight belongings of fentanyl, third-time belongings of methamphetamine, and disturbance in Natrona County District Court last Thursday.

He is presumed innocent up until tested or pleading guilty.

Police reacted to a public intox call at the east side Walmart on the night of June 5, 2023.

“The caller advised the male was moving weirdly and talking to a puppy, possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol,”  the affidavit said.

Officers discovered the suspect connecting with something in a truck bed. They said he was holding the puppy and started to walk away as they ran his name through dispatch. Officers said they encouraged him to stop, however he removed at a complete face the Walmart. They said they saw him cut into the males’s toilet at the front of the store.

Drake then came out and gave up, “placing the puppy on the floor directly in front of him,” the report said.

Officers supposedly discovered a pouch packed into the toilet seat cover dispenser and think that Drake had actually attempted to flush it. Inside they discovered 84.5 presumed fentanyl tablets and misdemeanor quantities of presumptive positive methamphetamine, the affidavit said.

Drake supposedly said he’d been a guest in the truck which he was waiting while the driver entered into the store. The name of the driver was understood to police. He was not discovered at the store.
