Novato man implicated of eliminating roomie, dog

Novato authorities booked a murder suspect early Saturday after a shooting in the Hamilton location.

The criminal activity occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Friday on Martin Drive in the Lanham Village area, according to the Novato Police Department. Police, reacting to reports about shooting, discovered a man and a dog who had actually been shot to death on the back patio of a residence.

Police apprehended 2 males at the residence and determined among them — Paul Henry Dwight, 65 — as the suspected killer. Investigators identified that Dwight and the dead man were roomies who had actually had a disagreement over their housing plans.

Investigators booked Dwight into the Marin County Jail at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of murder and animal cruelty. He is being held without a bail quantity while the examination continues.

Police detained the other man on suspicion of blocking the examination, however did not launch his name.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the townhouse and recuperated a weapon.

Authorities did not launch the name of the dead man while the county coroner’s workplace worked to inform close relative.

Board members at Lanham Village, which includes about 150 houses near Nave Drive, said they did not understand for how long the victim had actually lived there.

Marin County had 5 murders in 2022, according to the most recent information available from the California Department of Justice. Two remained in Novato.

The county had approximately 3.3 murders a year in the 10-year duration from 2013-2022.
