PONCHATOULA- A 3-year-old golden retriever, Theo, is recuperating well with his family after missing out on for 6 days.

“I could not work, I could not believe directly. He’s like a kid, he ain’t an animal, he becomes part of our family,” Mickey Shaw said.

The Shaw family took a trip from Mississippi to Tangipahoa Parish over the July Fourth weekend for an outdoor camping journey. As they were heading back to their camper to secure Theo, fireworks began popping and Theo ran.

“I removed right away after him, however certainly the fireworks kept going, so he most likely simply kept going then could not discover his method back,” Shaw said.

Shaw says he invested all night and the next day looking for his friend. Unfortunately, they needed to return home.

“I do not understand that any of us might go an entire hour without breaking down, it was insane,” Shaw said.

He never ever quit hope. Shaw returned day after day. Flyers were published all around the camping sites. A Facebook post was shared more than a thousand times. The assistance and help they received is something he says they will always remember.

“They were messaging me and my spouse, ‘Hey were riding down here,’ ‘No website here.’ We never ever anticipated many individuals,” Shaw said.

After days of searching, it was a clothes product that led Theo back.

“Sounds insane, however he has something about my feet, he constantly rests on my feet, is constantly smelling my feet. I do not understand why. They stink. So I took filthy socks, and put them where I think he left, that was Saturday afternoon, by Sunday early morning he existed,” Shaw said.

Another camper saw Theo and within hours the family was gladly reunited.

“We all simply brushed our teeth, and whatever we oversleeped, that’s what we had on,” Shaw said.

Theo’s paw pads were hurt, however he remains in good spirits as he continues to recuperate. Shaw says they never ever quit and understood they would bring their dog home.

At the time Theo ran, Shaw says he was not leashed, however that is something they will not let occur once again. The owners mean to never ever take Theo outdoor camping throughout a vacation that has fireworks. He says when they do go outdoor camping, he will remain on a leash with a GPS tracking collar.
