A Massachusetts State Police robotic canine was shot throughout a standoff on Cape Cod this month, officers mentioned, calling it an instance of how the know-how could make police work safer in harmful conditions.
The canine, often known as Roscoe, was shot as a SWAT group handled a person barricaded in a home within the Hyannis part of Barnstable on March 6, police mentioned. That standoff prompted native faculties to be evacuated and took hours to resolve; it led to the arrest of 30-year-old Justin Moreira.
Reports of a barricaded topic in Hyannis pressured neighbors to evacuate and prompted a shelter-in-place in Barnstable faculties Wednesday morning.
Moreira was barricaded inside a home on St. Francis Circle after a 911 name a few person holding another person at knifepoint, police mentioned on the time. He knocked the robotic canine down, then began to walk up the steps, however, when Roscoe righted itself and began following him up the steps, he knocked the canine over once more, then shot it 3 times. Its pilot misplaced communication with the canine.
