Mr McDermott was struck once again and required to stop. Ms Butler and her dog had actually neighbored when the 2nd shot was fired.After hearing her dog squeal, she scooped up her family pet and ran.

Mr McElroy informed the court: ‘She realised that, while she had a relatively minor injury to her hand, her dog had been struck by the majority of the discharged shotgun pellets and had died.’

Gallacher was imprisoned in 2015 for 10 years for culpable murder. Govan was handed a six-and-a-half year sentence in 2016.

Both were remanded and will be sentenced next month in Stirling.
