Speeding drivers and domestic violence culprits are amongst those appearing in the latest round of cases at the magistrates court. Devon’s magistrates courts sentence individuals for a wide variety of criminal offenses.

They can enforce endless fines, restrictions, neighborhood orders and as much as a year in jail.




Here DevonLive takes a look at recent hearings at the magistrates’ courts in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Barnstaple.

JULY 31

Max Robert Carter, Barnstaple. Age: 38. On 08/10/2022 at Goodleigh drove transformed ambulance on a roadway after taking in a lot alcohol that the percentage of it in breath, particularly 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, surpassed the recommended limitation. Plea: Guilty. Community order made. Disqualified from holding or acquiring a driving licence for 25 months.

David Benjamin Thomas, NFA. Age: 51.
