Off-leashing dogs at Shores Park will proceed to be allowed underneath an ordinance accepted by the Del Mar City Council on Jan. 9.
Del Mar City Manager Ashley Jones mentioned the ordinance will “solidify” a brief set of rules that the council has needed to repeatedly renew.
“We have had the same rules in place for going on 12 years, yet we’ve been calling them temporary,” Jones mentioned. “The reason for that is that when we first established the rules it was not long after we acquired Shores Park, and at that time we thought it would really be a temporary basis because we would be moving forward with the Shores Park master planning process. However, that process has been put on hold for some time.”
There are presently no plans to restart the Shore Park grasp planning course of, in accordance with town.
The ordinance permits dogs to be off-leash Monday by means of Sunday from 6 to eight:30 a.m., and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to nightfall.
