A car reversed in Devon this afternoon, leaving the residents of the vehicle caught within. The driver called 999, reporting the crash after going through a hedge.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service verified the crash happened at around 2.27pm, after the vehicle left the A3124 at East Nyph near Whiddon Down. The car pulled up on its side in a field.
Three grownups and a dog were said to be caught at the time of the call. The driver was informed to constantly sound the car’s horn and the landowner pertained to help and assisted guide teams to the scene.
A fire service representative said: “Two fire devices from Chagford and Okehampton were mobilised following a call from the driver of a car that had actually left the carriageway on the A3124 at East Nymph, near Whiddon Down and came to rest on its side, in a field after going through a hedge.
“Three grownups and a dog were verified to be caught at the time of call and fire control remained on the phone to the residents of the vehicle till the arrival of our teams, as the car was not noticeable from the roadway. After listening throughout the 999 call to constantly sound the automobiles horn the landowner of the field pertained to help them and directed our teams in from the primary roadway.”
At around 3.30pm, the occurrence was “brought under control” and all 3 casualties and their dog were “securely liberated and left in the hands of ambulance paramedics after fire teams stabilised the vehicle”.
